Whew! It's been a while since my last post. Let's see... I've been at PST for over a year now! Still loving it. I can feel my 3D skills improving every day, and a project that I've been working was recently featured on the Daily Planet (Canadian Discovery Channel). Not only that, but it seems that the research based on the simulation is actually helping people. This feels fantastic.

It's an old build (we've updated it a lot), but you can watch the casino gambling video here.

Other than that, I've been working with the Unity game engine, trying to create a little game of my own. I can't say details yet, but it will be hopefully coming in spring 2011, and will be featured on my website. Just a little test of a game, really, but I think it will be fun. Lots of scripting involved (unfortunately), but things are going smoothly so far (thanks to awesome Unity tutorials and forums).

I am also going to update my website soon, and put some new work on there. It's about damn time, right? ;) Oh, and my husband got a netbook for Christmas. This thing is awesome! Hopefully this means more blog posts, as I'm apparently too lazy to run upstairs and do it.

Cheers everyone, may your holidays be rockin'. Here's looking forward to a fantastic new year. ^_^

Great news - I'm going to officially be a full-time member of Psychology Software by the end of the month. I love what my job employs, and I really enjoy working with people there, so that rocks!

To be honest with you, in the beginning I kept expecting something to go horribly wrong, bracing myself for the worst for the first month or so - I didn't think people were supposed to actually like their jobs this much. I guess that's the point of going to school for what you love. Countless all-nighters and years of hard work are starting to pay off.

Yay! :)

Cheers everyone, and happy holidays!

Great news! I've managed to land a paid internship that is very likely to turn into a full-time position. The company seems great, and I start on Monday! I'm extremely excited to work on a team again, and do some 3D work. In the meantime, I'll still be freelancing, so in a nutshell, things are looking good. :)

Cheers!

Busy, busy...

Hey everyone,

Still in the Burgh, still freelancing, still lovin' it. I've just finished my second commercial for Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, and I've started another project for a client at Presby Hospital.

In the meantime, I'm trying to set up accounts on things I've long needed to: CG Talk, Gamasutra, etc, so expect some postings on that, sometime.

I'm also working on several personal projects, most of which are animations (3D and 2D). I'm focusing on creating an animation-specific reel. Then it's on to making a game level!

'Til next time,
Ariel :)

Hello Everyone

Hey everybody, my name is Ariel Banks, and I'm a recent graduate of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Currently I'm freelancing, having just completed a commercial for the Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, and about to start on another. The commercial can be found here: https://www.665-7000.com/

I'm really excited about the opportunity to animate - I've been mostly just working on 3D for the last 6 or 8 months now. Feels good to get back to my roots. :)

Though I love freelancing and advertising, I'm also looking to get a full-time job in gaming as a 3d model/texture artist. Either way, the future is bright, and I'll keep you up to date if anything new comes along.

Stay cool.
